funding.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: IREX seeks applicants for the position of Human
Trafficking Researcher. This is part of IREX's bid to administer USAID's
program Combating Human Trafficking in Central Asia (RFA Number
DM122-03-013). Per the RFA, "The primary objective of this activity is
to educate the public on the dangers of human trafficking, assist in
developing appropriate legislation to combat human trafficking and
provide protection services to trafficked victims through a combination
of information dissemination, technical assistance and training." To

Applicants are solicited to work part-time (50% minimum) for one year.
The Researcher will work with perform an extensive assessment of the
human trafficking problem in Uzbekistan, under the guidance if the
Country Program Coordinator for Uzbekistan. While the position will be
based in Tashkent, it will involve significant travel within Uzbekistan.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Develop the overall framework for the
assessment along with the Country Program Coordinator; Travel throughout
Uzbekistan to interview local and international NGOs, human rights
activists, local government officials, and scholars on the subject of
trafficking; Provide weekly updates on progress of the assessment;
Produce scheduled drafts of the assessment for editing and review and
produce a final assessment report by the end of the first program year;
Assist with developing strategy based on assessment findings; Ensure the
quality, cost, and timeliness of all work performed on the assessment.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be well organized, able to work
independently, skilled at handling multiple tasks, able to adhere to
deadlines, and willing to travel extensively. Other specific
qualifications should include at a minimum:
Expertise in survey methodology and statistical analysis; Expertise on
the phenomenon of international human trafficking (gender, economic,
corruption, and legal issues), especially in Central Asia; Familiarity
with civil society-strengthening or gender-focused projects in Central
Asia; Experience working on assessments for international aid or
development projects; Superior writing and editing skills; Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills; Knowledge of computers and
relevant software (SPSS, MS Office, Excel, etc.), ICT skills helpful;
Fluency in English; Russian language ability a plus.
