TITLE: Regional Educational Advising Coordinator - Russia
REPORTS TO: Deputy Director, AER Division, Washington, DC
POSITION LOCATION: Based in Moscow, with travel within Eurasia
ABOUT IREX: IREX (the International Research & Exchanges Board) is the
premier US nonprofit organization specializing in higher education,
independent media, Internet development, and civil society programs in
the United States, Europe, Eurasia, the Near East, and Asia.
SUMMARY OF POSITION: IREX seeks a full-time person to act as the
Regional Educational Advising Coordinator (REAC). The position provides
leadership and training to US Department of State educational
information/advising centers (EICs) in the NIS. See www.irex.ru/reac for
more information on the program. The position requires a native English
speaker with US citizenship. The position is available immediately.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Providing guidance and leadership in development of Eurasian
advising centers;
* Liaising with funding organizations, other NGOs and educational
institutions;
* Supervising an assistant;
* Developing and implementing training programs and materials; and
* Maintaining REAC web page and listserv.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must be well organized, able to work independently, skilled
at handling multiple tasks, and able to adhere to deadlines. Experience
with Eurasian educational advising centers and US higher education a
plus. Other specific qualifications should include:
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and basic knowledge
of Eurasian political, economic and social issues;
* Advanced Russian language;
* Professional and/or living experience in Eurasia;
* Excellent interpersonal and teambuilding skills;
* Superior written and verbal communication skills; and
* Knowledge of computers and relevant software.
