POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Program Assistant
CRDF Cooperative Grants Program
(2 positions available)
The U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF) seeks two (2)
Program Assistants for its Cooperative Grants Program (CGP).   The CRDF is
an international non-profit organization supporting scientific collaboration
between scientists in the U.S. and in the former Soviet Union (FSU).
The Program Assistant is responsible for day-to-day assistance in the
proposal submission, review, and award stages of the CGP and related
activities.   The CGP implements the main CRDF goals to support exceptional
peer-reviewed, cooperative research projects that offer FSU scientists
alternatives to emigration, support defense conversion in the FSU, and
provide mutual benefit to the U.S.
Responsibilities:
The Program Assistant reports to a CRDF Program Manager.  Principal
responsibility is to provide day-to-day assistance to the proposal
submission, review, and award processes.  This includes:
Ø       Proposal Submission: fields and answers applicant questions; handles
responses to main e-mail accounts; assists in production and distribution of
program guidelines.
Ø       Review: reads and screens incoming grant proposals; identifies and
recruits reviewers; coordinates one or more review panels, including
recruiting panelists, assigning and distributing proposals to panelists, and
managing logistics of a panel meeting.
Ø       Award: reviews portfolio of quarterly and final grant reports;
fields programmatic questions from grantees; assists with compilation and
production of award lists and evaluation reports.
In addition, the Program Assistant will be called upon to implement
logistics for special CGP initiatives, including proposal development
workshops, visitor delegations, travel fellowships, and other activities.
Qualifications:
Ø       B.A. /B.S. degree in Russian/Eurasian studies, international
relations, natural sciences, or another field related to CRDF activities.
A strong science background in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, or
engineering helpful but not required.
Ø       Demonstrated work experience requiring exceptional organizational
skills and keen attention to detail.
Ø       Ability to communicate and interact effectively with applicants,
grantees, and reviewers, in writing, in person, and on the telephone.
Ø       Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel,
Access).
Ø       Russian or other FSU language proficiency preferred.
