Civil Society in Central Asia: A Key Component of Security

You are cordially invited to a forum on civil society in Central Asia,
sponsored by ISAR: Initiative for Social Action and Renewal in Eurasia
(http://www.isar.org).  ISAR, a nonprofit organization based in Washington,
DC, has been working in Central Asia for the past ten years, supporting
grassroots citizen initiative groups and nongovernmental organizations
(NGOs) that address local environmental problems.
Robert Kaiser of the Washington Post, who has recently returned from a
reporting trip to Central Asia, will join with Kent Hill, Assistant
Administrator for Europe and Eurasia at the US Agency for International
Development, and Pat Scheid of the Aga Khan Foundation USA for a discussion
of the ways in which NGO activity contributes to stability and reform in the
region.  Kate Watters, ISAR's Deputy Director, will moderate the discussion.
