Position Description
Position:  	Full-time Intern (30-40 hours per week)/CAR
Program:	Europe and Eurasia/Central Asian Republics
		(includes Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan,
Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan)
Reports to:	Program Assistant, S. Program Assistant and S. Program
Officer
Starting date:	ASAP
Location:	Washington, DC
Salary:		$7.00 per hour, plus commute reimbursement
Requirements:
The prospective intern should have at least a BS/BA in international
affairs or a related field and possess the following skills:  knowledge
and understanding of the Central Asian Republics; well-organized and
skilled at handling and prioritizing multiple tasks; good writing
skills; team-oriented and able to work well in a group and with his/her
supervisors.  Russian language skills are highly preferred.
Scope of Work:
*	Drafting correspondence;
*	Assistance with travel arrangements for consultants and IFES
staff;
*	Editing and compiling reports and proposals;
*	Administrative assistance, including copying, filing and
organization;
*	Research on current and potential project countries and issues;
*	Written and oral translation of Russian language as needed;
*	Maintenance of the CAR-related materials at the IFES Resource
Center;
*	Attend various briefings, meetings and Embassy events, as
directed by the SPO, SPA and PA;
*	Conduct daily press reviews;
*	Assist members of division staff as necessary;
*	   Other duties as assigned.
