INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH & EXCHANGES BOARD - RUSSIAN FEDERATION
TITLE:  Associate Director of Academic Programs - Russia
REPORTS TO:  Country Director, Russia
POSITION LOCATION: Based in Moscow, with extensive travel within
Russia.
ABOUT IREX: IREX is an international nonprofit organization dedicated
to the advancement of knowledge. Central to its mission is the
empowering of individuals and institutions to participate
meaningfully in civil society. IREX administers programs between the
United States and Eastern Europe, the New Independent States (NIS),
Asia, and the Near East.
ABOUT IREX IN RUSSIA: IREX has administered programs in Russia since
1968. IREX established its Moscow office in 1989 and has since
expanded with representation across the country. IREX programs in
Russia span NGO development, US-Russian partnership building,
academic exchanges, professional training, and academic advising.
SUMMARY OF POSITION: IREX seeks a full-time Associate Director (AD)
of Academic Programs to provide leadership to our portfolio of
research, exchange, university development, alumni, and educational
advising programs in the Russian Federation. The position requires a
native English speaker with US citizenship.
The position is available immediately.
RESPONSIBILITIES
*	Providing strategic guidance and leadership in development of
	division programs;
*	Liaising with funding organizations, other exchange program and
	technical assistance implementers and NGOs and Russian educational
	institutions;
*	Supervising division staff;
*     Developing and implement policies and procedures for streamlined
	program and financial management;
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must be well organized, able to work independently, skilled at
handling multiple tasks, and able to adhere to deadlines.  Other specific
qualifications should include:
*	Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and basic knowledge of
	Russian political, economic and social issues;
*	Experience managing USG-funded programs;
*	Advanced Russian language;
*	Professional and/or living experience in Russia;
*	Excellent interpersonal and teambuilding skills;
*	Superior written and verbal communication skills;
*	Knowledge of computers and relevant software;
*	Demonstrated ability conducting outreach and maintaining strong
funder relations.
