Researcher (part time or full time)
LOCATION
Budapest, Hungary
THE TOCQUEVILLE RESEARCH CENTER (T-RC)
The Tocqueville Research Center (T-RC) specializes in comparative
cross-national political analysis. Currently its main project is titled the
Indicators of Local Democratic Governance in Central and Eastern Europe
Project, sponsored by the Local Government and Public Service Reform
Initiative (LGI) at the Open Society Institute. For more information, visit

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Researcher will organize and report international research on local
democracy (including local civil society) in Central and Eastern Europe
following a given research design and the  instructions of the Project
Director. The workload is 20 (part time) or 40 (full time) hours per week on
the average, but will fluctuate
over time according to the needs of organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Researcher's primary responsibilities are as follows.
* Preparing quantitative analysis of the data collected by the project
* Organizing research by phone and email
* Writing activity reports
* Providing information about the project to interested parties
* Occasionally travelling to (foreign and domestic) sites where fieldwork
for the project is implemented
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
* holds a degree in social sciences, preferably in political science or
sociology
* speaks and writes academic English at a high level of fluency
* has an experience in report writing in English
* has significant experience in survey research and quantitative methods
* can use SPSS
* strictly adheres to deadlines
* has email access
* is personally available in Budapest when needed.
