Program in Russia about 1990. It allows you to work as a counselor in a
Russian summer youth camp for four to eight weeks from June through August. |

SCI International Voluntary Service |
"Peace through
deeds, not words" has been its motto since 1920 when Service Civil
International (SCI) founder Pierre Ceresole encouraged multi-national
volunteers to come together in work camps to help with physical and social
reconstruction in war-torn sites of the First World War.
Through various non-profit partner organizations worldwide and through the
SCI network of international and regional development, SCI IVS USA
participates in the exchange of over 5,000 volunteers each year in short
term 2-3 week international group workcamps and in long term 3-12 months
volunteer postings in over 50 countries. |

United States Information Agency (USIA) |
The NIS Secondary
School Initiative was established under the FREEDOM Support Act (FSA) of
1992 to foster the exchange of young people between the United States, and
the New Independent States (NIS) of Eurasia. Since 1993, more than 37,000
students and educators from Eurasia and the United States have participated
in programs conceived under the Initiative. These have included exchange
programs for high school students and educators funded through grants to
private not-for-profit organizations and public educational institutions.
Current programs include: Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX); School Partnership
Program; Teaching Excellence Awards; The American Academy in Tbilisi; and
the School Connectivity Programs. |
