CALL FOR ARTICLES AND CASES
GURT Resource Centre for NGO Development (Kyiv, Ukraine) is a national
information and support centre that provides a range of quality
services to strengthen civil society organisations of all types and
sizes.
GURT is actively working on development and promotion of lobbying
practices in Ukrainian non-profit sector. Since September 2002 GURT
has started to work on the project "Towards Democratic Changes in
Ukraine Through Enhancing Role of NGOs in Policy-Making Processes",
supported by Westminster Foundation for Democracy/ Great Britain. The
overall project goal is to increase participation of NGOs in local
policy and decision-making processes, enhance social partnership
practices in civil society, and raise the level of NGO's transparency
and accountability.
Currently GURT is working on the handbook "Using Media in Lobbying and
Advocacy Campaigns" that will be published at the end of May 2003. We
plan to put in the handbook not only theoretical materials on
effective using of media or organizing lobbying campaigns, but also to
give practical advice and recommendations on the various aspects of
media relations, lobbying and advocacy.
If your organization has already run the lobbying/advocacy campaigns
on social issues, and you acknowledged the local media contribution to
campaign success, we would appreciate you sharing of success stories
with Ukrainian NGO counterparts. Your material should be up to 5 pages
and written in English, Ukrainian or Russian.
The structure of your material can be as following:
- description of the purpose, target groups and the scope of campaign
activities;
- the outcomes of lobbying/advocacy campaign;
- factors of success of your lobbying/advocacy campaign:
- types of media agencies, involved in campaign;
- approaches and PR tools, used in work with media under
lobbying/advocacy campaign;
- what was the interest for media representatives to take part in
lobbying/advocacy campaign?
We would be also thankful for photos, pictures or diagrams which can
be added to your article.
Please, send your inputs to GURT Resource Centre via e-mail:
