TITLE: Intern
DIVISION: Partnerships and Training Division (PTD)
LOCATION: Washington, DC
REPORTS TO: Senior Program Officer
ABOUT IREX: IREX (the International Research & Exchanges Board) is the
premier US nonprofit organization specializing in higher education,
independent media, Internet development, and civil society programs in
the United States, Europe, Eurasia, the Near East, and Asia. SUMMARY OF
POSITION: IREX seeks a Program Associate to provide administrative and
programmatic support for the Internet Access and Training Program (IATP)
based in the Washington, DC office. IATP consists of a network of more
than 135 Internet access and training facilities spread out across 11
countries of Eurasia. IATP collaborates with a wide variety of local
partners and international organizations in providing program services
and will soon be opening more than 20 additional Internet access
facilities. SUMMARY OF POSITION: IREX seeks an Intern to provide
administrative and programmatic support for IREX's Regional Empowerment
Initiative for Women (REIW) based in the Washington, DC office. The REIW
program seeks to prevent trafficking through raising awareness,
conducting educational campaigns, and providing empowerment and job
skills training for at-risk women. REIW is implemented in Bulgaria,
Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Romania and Serbia.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Compiling program statistics and assisting with report
writing/editing
* Updating and formatting program materials and web site
* Assisting with event coordination and program logistics
* Assisting with proposal development
* Performing other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: The Intern must be well organized, able to work
independently, skilled at handling multiple tasks, and able to adhere to
deadlines. Other qualifications:
* Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
* Knowledge of women's issues
* Experience with statistics collection and analysis
* Knowledge of the SEE/Eurasia region
* Knowledge of Russian or other regional language preferred
IREX is seeking an Intern available to work a minimum of 10 hours a
week, though the schedule is flexible. This internship is open
immediately.
