CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The Economics Education and Research Consortium is pleased to announce the
Spring 2002 round of ECONOMICS RESEARCH GRANT COMPETITION and SUMMER SCHOOL
"Bringing Research into the Classroom".
THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS 26 APRIL 2002
Proposals are solicited in the following five areas with relevance to
current policy concerns in Russia and CIS:
-- Enterprises and product markets
-- Labour markets and social policy
-- Macro, financial markets and open economy
-- Public economics
-- International trade and regional integration
The best research teams will be invited to present their projects at the
EERC RESEARCH WORKSHOP (July 11-13, 2002, location TBA).GRANTS are awarded
to individual researchers or small research teams (up to 3 persons) for a
period of one year. Most grants fall within the $6,000 to $15,000 range
according to the nature, scope, and budget requirements of the project.
Heads of projects must attend the workshop in order to be considered for a
grant.
Additionally, young and regional researchers who demonstrate outstanding
research potential are offered modest "PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT" GRANTS (up to
$3,000 ) which are meant to support further project development and
resubmission in one of the next competition rounds. Young scholars are also
offered:
-- Scholarships for a seven-week study period at the New Economic School in
Moscow
-- Visiting research fellowships at the New Economic School, EERC Kiev
Research Center, or the Center for Economic and Financial Research in Moscow
(CEFIR)
Please note that individual applicants will also be considered for
participation in the EERC SUMMER SCHOOL "Introducing Research into the
Classroom" - the first step in the annual Research Development Program. The
School's objectives are to facilitate the incorporation of modern research
literature into the teaching process; to apply theoretical concepts to the
analysis of economics policy in transition; and to supplement theoretical
training with data analysis. Participants will be granted the opportunity to
attend two courses of their choice from the following:
-- Econometric Methods in Economics and Finance
-- Macroeconomics
-- Labour Economics and its Application to Transition Economies
-- Industrial Organization.
The School will be held on July 16-28, 2002 on the premises of the National
University "KIEV-MOHYLA ACADEMY" (EERC MA program). It will be partially
supported by the Higher Education Support Program of the Open Society
Institute.
