Dear Friends and Colleagues,
In view of interruptions in postal services and the activities of many
academic institutions here in New York and elsewhere, caused by the recent
events, the SSRC has extended the application deadline for all Eurasia
Program fellowships to November 15, 2001. All competitions will be held and
we encourage all those who considered applying, but came to face time
constraints, to take their time and submit their applications by November
15.

SSRC Fellowships for the Study of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and
Its Successor States
****************
The Eurasia Program of the Social Science Research Council continues to
solicit applications for fellowships supporting research on the Former
Soviet Union and its successor states, funded by the U.S. Department of
State under the Program for Research and Training on Eastern Europe and the
Independent States of the Former Soviet Union (Title VIII). Fellowships are
offered in three categories:
1) Graduate Training fellowships are for graduate students to enhance
their disciplinary, methodological or language training.
2) Dissertation Write-up fellowships are for those graduate students
who have completed their dissertation research and expect to complete
writing the dissertation during the 2002-2003 academic year.
3) Postdoctoral fellowships are designed to improve the academic
employment and tenure opportunities of recent PhD recipients (up to six
years past the PhD).
All applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents. All fellowships
awarded under this program are contingent upon the receipt of funding from
the U.S. Department of State. Application deadline has been extended to
November 15, 2001. An application can be downloaded from our website at
http://www.ssrc.org or please contact us for more information:
