Dear Friends:
My name is Elke Hanak. I am a single mother and I am living in
Germany, near Pforzheim. I am making investigations about the
circumstances of single mothers and fathers all over the world and
interpret them in a book.
Thus I would like to ask some questions, hoping that you can answer
them for me. Your help will be very much appreciated. You can be
assured that the investigations are absolutely anonymous and your
data will be treated strictly confidental.

Statistics

* How high is the percentage of single parents in your country
* How many of them are divorced, widowed and how many percent have not
been married bevore parenthood
* How many percent are single fathers and how many are single mothers?
* How high is the abortion rate and how many percent of unintentional
pregnancies lead to adoption?
* How high is the number of unemployed single parents?
* How high is the poverty rate of single parents?
Legal and financial situation

* Is there generally joint custody and what rights and duties does it
involve?
* Are there legal differences between divorced, widowed and single
parents which have never been married?
* What rights has a father of a illegitimate child?
* Does an obligation for financial support of the single parent exist
and how does it look like? Are single parents supported by the
government in order to ensure their legal financial support by the
other parent?
* Are illegetimate childred entitled to inherit? Is there a
difference with legitimate children?
* If there is no financial support from the other parent, do
single parents receive any kind of maintenance by the government?
* Are single parents supported by the government when looking for a
work, housing or suitable nurseries a.s.o?
* Are there any supporting projects for single parents in your
country?
* Do any financial grants for families with childrens exist in your
country?
* Do single parents and their children suffer any disadvantages in
society?
