Project Harmony-Azerbaijan Job Opening: Education Coordinator
Project Harmony currently seeks and energetic and creative
Azerbaijani citizen to fill the position of Education Coordinator for
the Azerbaijan School Connectivity Program.
Project Harmony is an innovative, not-for-profit organization that
empowers individuals to create healthier communities through
international exchange and training. Founded in 1985, the
organization began by coordinating performing arts exchanges between
the US and USSR. Since that time, it has expanded its activities to
include educational and professional exchanges, programs to combat
domestic violence and projects to develop the use of the Internet in
the former Soviet Union.
Azerbaijan School Connectivity Program (ASCP)
ASCP will establish Internet Computer Centers at no less than 10
schools across Azerbaijan and provide extensive training for
educators so that this resource can be used to enhance civic
education through online collaborative within Azerbaijan and with
partner schools abroad. Program participants will carry out joint
educational projects and develop innovative cross-cultural curricula
focused on civic engagement and democratic participation.
A train-the-trainers program for Azerbaijani educators will further
develop the skills of Azerbaijani teachers to leverage online
technology for building civic education components into the
curriculum at their schools. Working closely with partner schools,
Project Harmony will provide the educational leadership, technical
equipment and support to ensure that use of the Internet is
integrated into academic programs of participating schools in a way
that strengthens democracy and supports civil society and cultural
understanding throughout Azerbaijan.
Education Coordinator responsibilities:
* Work with the program director to develop a program implementation plan
* Represent the program before Ministry of Education officials,
local, regional and national government officials and representatives
of educational institutions
* Recruitment, selection, orientation and training of Regional
Education Coordinators
* Planning and coordination with American teachers for partnership program
* Content and production of publications
* Development of an online newsletter
* Outreach and support for Regional Education Coordinators and
project development
* Coordinate efforts with other education and curriculum development programs
* Enhancement of program results by reviewing program implementation,
development of educational resources and sustainability options
Requirements:
* Demonstrated concern for issues of civic education and community involvement
* Strong computer skills, including Internet
* Strong knowledge of educational system in Azerbaijan
* Demonstrated success working with government and/or education institutions
* Experience organizing and administering exchanges, seminars and
training events
* Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
* Concrete experience producing publications
* Solid leadership skills - program administration and staff
management experience a plus
* Fluency in English, Azeri and Russian
Salary: $350 or commensurate with experience
