TITLE: Program Associate
DIVISION: Partnerships and Training Division (PTD)
LOCATION: Washington, DC
REPORTS TO: Senior Program Officer
ABOUT IREX: IREX is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to the
advancement of knowledge. Central to its mission is the empowering of
individuals and institutions to participate meaningfully in civil society.
IREX administers programs between the United States and Eastern Europe, the
New Independent States (NIS), Asia, and the Near East.
SUMMARY OF POSITION: IREX seeks a Program Associate for the Internet Access
and Training Program (IATP) based in the Washington, DC office. IATP
consists of a network of 66 Internet access and training facilities spread
out across 11 countries of the Newly Independent States (NIS). IATP
collaborates with a wide variety of local partners and international
organizations in providing program services and will soon be opening an
additional 54 Internet access facilities.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
�	Tracking activities associated with the IATP grants competition and
generating reports;
�	Editing program news stories from overseas staff;
�	Updating the IATP web site with information pertaining to grants,
country activities, and 	program statistics;
�	Tracking program statistics and compiling reports;
�	Tracking wire requests to overseas staff;
�	Maintaining routine correspondence with field offices and field
representatives;
�	Coordinating travel logistics for home leave and IREX/Washington
visits from foreign-based 	staff.
QUALIFICATIONS: The Program Associate must be well organized, able to work
independently, skilled at handling multiple tasks, and able to adhere to
deadlines.
Other qualifications:
�	A Bachelor's degree;
�	Knowledge of Russian preferred;
�	Knowledge of html editors such as Macromedia Dreamweaver desirable;
�	Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
�	Excellent writing skills, both oral and written.
