About Lehman Eurasia Group
Launched in October, 2000, Lehman Eurasia Group is a joint venture
between Eurasia Group and Lehman Brothers. Lehman Eurasia Group is an
innovative research project that analyzes the stability of emerging
market countries, producing a monthly index of country stability -
the Global Emerging Markets Stability Index - and a series of
accompanying research products. Through its unique analytical
framework and constant tracking of current developments, the Global
Emerging Markets Stability Index measures and describes conditions
influencing stability, providing an "early-warning" system that
anticipates critical trends in emerging markets countries.
Ultimately, the Global Emerging Markets Stability Index will provide
a standard basis for comparison among countries and across
regions--an indispensable tool for investors, analysts and
policymakers.
Developed over a two-year period by researchers and analysts with
expertise in political and economic transitions and emerging markets
issues, Lehman Eurasia Group's analytical framework assesses
countries according to key political, economic, security/geopolitical
and social criteria. New developments are continuously monitored and
tracked by our network of in-country researchers, and interpreted and
analyzed by Lehman Eurasia Group analysts. The data generated will
result in the Global Emerging Markets Stability Index, which will
rank countries according to relative stability, and the Stability
Monitor, which will provide accompanying analysis.
Focusing initially on 10 countries: Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Croatia,
Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, Poland, Russia, Thailand, and Turkey,
Lehman Eurasia Group is the first major effort to systematically
marshal data on emerging market countries and apply it to
interpreting stability in financial markets.
