# 1: Internships at Institute for Democracy in Eastern Europe
The Institute for Democracy in Eastern Europe (IDEE), an organization
dedicated to supporting independent civic organizations and media in
Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, has several
internship openings in its Washington, DC office:
Translation Interns: Translate a variety of reports, eye-witness
accounts, letters, e-mails, and other documents from Russian to
English and English to Russian. Requirements: Fluent English and
Russian other languages of the region helpful, but not necessary.
Program Intern: Assist IDEE staff with project management, grants
management, correspondence, and travel and meeting logistics.
Requirements (for all internship positions):
� Good writing, organizational, and communication skills
� At least junior standing in an undergraduate program; recent graduates and
graduate students are also encouraged to apply
� Familiarity with common word processing and spreadsheet programs
� Demonstrated interest in the region
IDEE provides interns with an excellent introduction to NGO work in
Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, as well as to
the NGO community in Washington, DC. Interns will have access to all
of IDEE�s resources, and they will have the opportunity to attend
briefings and lectures held by other non-governmental organizations
and government agencies. IDEE will work with students to certify
internships for academic credit, and a small stipend is also
available.

# 2: Program Assistant/Coordinator
The Institute for Democracy in Eastern Europe (IDEE), an organization
dedicated to supporting the development of civil society and
independent media in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet
Union, seeks a Program Assistant/Coordinator to assist in managing
interrelated programs in our Washington, DC office.
Duties:
Grant and program management
Coordination of grant activity with the Director of Programs
Narrative and financial reporting to donors and draft funding
proposals
Attending grant-related meetings
Other duties, depending upon employee^s skills and office^s needs.
Qualifications:
BA in a relevant field (MA preferred, but not required)
Excellent writing, organizational, and communications skills
Previous experience working with NGOs
Knowledge of common word processing/spreadsheet programs, use of
internet and Web
Demonstrated interest in the region
Russian-language fluency strongly preferred
Legal eligibility to work in the U.S.
Salary & Benefits: Salary negotiable, depending upon experience (mid
to high 20k)
