The countries of the former USSR are not the only ones which are in the process of trying to establish democratic forms of government and robust civil societies. Democracy_News is a monthly bulletin which carries news of conferences, Websites, publications, book reviews and other resources related to democracy-building efforts in Eastern Europe and the NIS, Africa, Asia, and Latin America. It is a publication of the National Endowment for Democracy, which funds hundreds of such projects around the world. Some issues include an essay on developments in a particular region or on a specific topic, such as corruption.
