||The Gateway serves as "an easily accessible repository of
anti-corruption project documentation, legislation, regional and
international agreements, news, survey results, reports, and research. By
sharing this information widely, it is hoped that new and productive
initiatives will be generated to reduce corruption in these regions."
Corruption in Formerly-Communist Societies
||Michael Johnston of the Colgate University department of
political science has compiled this "working bibliography of library and web
resources" with the assistance and support of the Local Government and
Public Service Reform Initiative of the Open
Society Institute, Budapest, Hungary. It is intended for "researchers,
journalists, students, and all others concerned with corruption and
development in the former Communist world." First compiled in 1999, it was
last revised in April 2001.
||is a monthly e-mail bulletin which reports on corruption
issues in Ukraine.
Transnational Crime and Corruption Center
||The Transnational Crime and Corruption Center (TraCCC) is
"the first center in the United States devoted to teaching, research,
training and formulating policy advice in transnational crime, corruption
and terrorism." Founded in 1995 with seed money from the MacArthur
Foundation and currently funded by the United States Government and private
foundations, TraCCC seeks "to better understand the causes and scope of
transnational crime and corruption and to propose well-grounded policy to
reduce and eliminate these problems."
||Transparency International works to curb corruption by mobilizing a global coalition of stakeholders in the integrity of national and international governance, including most importantly the institutions of civil society and the private sector. TI's Web site includes its annual
Corruption Perceptions Index, which is a "poll of polls" measuring the public's view of the extent of corruption in their own country. The Web site also includes the TI Source Book, which is a collection of best practices from around the world in the effort to combat corruption.
